OKANAGAN UNITED FC SELECT PROGRAM

SELECT TEAMS

The Okanagan United Select Program is designed for U10 to U18 players who share a passion for soccer and a commitment to developing their skills.

This 10-month program includes twice-weekly training sessions, with evaluations held in mid-July and September to form teams and begin training after the school year starts. Players participate in exhibition games during the winter (when possible) and attend tournaments in early spring, leading up to the start of League Play. The program is dedicated to fostering a love for the game while helping players achieve their full potential in a supportive, competitive environment.

Players U13 - U18 will participate in the Thompson Okanagan Youth Soccer League (TOYSL)—an Inter-District Select Level League that brings together teams from clubs across Interior British Columbia, including the Central Okanagan Youth Soccer Association (COYSA) and the Thompson Okanagan Youth District Association (TOYDA)—this program provides a platform for young athletes to grow and excel.  This league runs from April to June with games taking place on Sundays against other teams within the Okanagan Valley.  Teams U14+ will have the opportunity to qualify for Provincials which take place in BC in early July over 4 days.

Select Teams U10 - U12* will participate in the Development Stream of the COYSA league which hosts games April - June AND September - mid October. Games for the U10 program run on Saturdays while U11/U12 are on Sundays against teams within the Okanagan Region between Penticton to Lake Country.

*U12 teams, based on skill level identified by Technical Staff, MAY have the option to participate in the TOYSL division with their season only running from April - June.  This option gives the team a board scope of competition and will suitably challenge the team where appropriate for the team and player development.

THE OUFC SELECT PROGRAM INCLUDES:

• Indoor training (twice weekly) at one of the Okanagan United domes in either Rutland or Mission throughout the fall/winter

• Outdoor training (twice weekly) in early fall and spring.

• Goalie sessions: 1 hour per week (2 players per team)

TRAINING

Okanagan United FC prioritizes coach and player development

• All coaches are selected by our Technical Director through an application process. Many coaches are parents who are then provided the additional training and practice regimen prescribed by BC Soccer and OUFC’s technical staff. Coaches must complete all levels of training required by BC Soccer and attend Coach Training Sessions every three weeks with OUFC Technical Staff.

• All selected players will attend outdoor training in the spring and fall and indoor training during the winter at either our Mission or Rutland Indoor Facilities.• Practices are twice a week - typically Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs.

• Break in training for Christmas and Spring Break; no training on holiday Mondays unless
requested by the coach
