Staff Announcement: Lee Tregonning Appointed Director of Football at Okanagan United FC 

Okanagan United FC is thrilled to welcome Lee Tregonning as our new Director of Football

Originally from Aberdare, Wales, Lee brings a depth of experience to our club that is unmatched in youth soccer across the province. A former player with Cardiff City, Luton Town, and the Welsh national youth teams, Lee has translated his playing background into a highly respected coaching career that has made a significant impact across the BC Soccer and BCSPL landscape. 

Since arriving in Canada in 2008, Lee has held key roles with organizations including Vancouver Whitecaps FC (Residential and REX programs), BC Soccer, Mountain United FC, North Shore Girls FC, and Burnaby FC, where he most recently served as Director of Player & Coach Development Through his work, Lee has guided both players and coaches along high-performance pathways, developed national-level talent, and helped build programs that reflect excellence, inclusivity, and purpose. 

Lee holds the following credentials and notable accomplishments with BC Soccer and the CSA:

– UEFA B Licence

– CSA Youth Licence & Children’s Licence 

– Technical Director Diploma 

– BC Soccer Youth Coach of the Year (2017–18) 

– Assistant Coach – Canada U-15 Women’s Team (CONCACAF Gold) 

He has led teams to national championships, contributed to the development of Canada’s next generation of talent, and maintained a reputation for professionalism, humility, and a true player-first approach. 

As Director of Football, Lee will oversee all technical programming across the club,supporting player development from grassroots to high performance, ensuring alignment with Canada Soccer’s LTPD model, and designing an infrastructure to support the development and growth of our coaches as we strive to elevate coaching standards across all programs. 

Lee will be supported in his role by a strong technical team, including Tom Flanagan (Technical Director), Chris Morgan (Assistant Technical Director), Logan Ellis (Grassroots Technical Lead), and Andy Peters (Staff Coach). Together, they will lead the club’s commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and long-term player development across all age groups and performance levels.
